From Paris to Hollywood: The Long and Successful Career of Danielle Darrieux

Danielle Darrieux was a French actress, singer and filmmaker. She had a long and successful career in both acting and singing, spanning over 80 years. She appeared in over 110 films, and she is considered one of France’s greatest actresses. She received numerous awards for her work, including the Legion of Honor, and she continued to act in films and on stage well into her 90s.

Acting Career

Danielle Darrieux began her acting career in the early 1930s, at the age of 14, and quickly established herself as a rising star in French cinema. One of her early roles was in the 1936 film “Mayerling,” directed by Anatole Litvak, which starred Charles Boyer and Danielle Darrieux, and became an international success.

Throughout the 1930s, Darrieux starred in a number of films, including “La Bandera” (1935), “La Belle Equipe” (1936), and “The Rage of Paris” (1938), which established her as one of France’s leading actresses. She also began to work in Hollywood films during this time, appearing in films such as “The Rage of Paris” (1938) and “The Rage of Paris” (1938), which was a Hollywood adaptation of her earlier French film.

During World War II, Darrieux continued to work in French cinema, appearing in films such as “Remorques” (1941) and “Mademoiselle ma mère” (1941). Personal life

Danielle Darrieux was married three times throughout her life. Her first marriage was to director and screenwriter Henri Decoin in 1935, but they divorced in 1940. She then married French actor Porfirio Rubirosa in 1942, but they divorced in 1947. Her third and final marriage was to French film producer and screenwriter Georges Mitsinkidès in 1951. They remained married until his death in 1977. She had two children, a daughter, Catherine, from her first marriage, and a son, Pierre, from her third marriage.

In her personal life, Darrieux was known for her elegance and refined taste. She was a close friend of Coco Chanel and she was often seen wearing Chanel designs.

Darrieux died on October 17, 2017, at the age of 100. She had been in good health up until a few weeks before her death. She died at her home in Bois-le-Roi, France, and her death was announced by her family. She was buried in the cemetery of Bois-le-Roi, near her home.

Danielle Darrieux was remembered as a great French actress and singer, who had a long and successful career in both film and music. She was considered one of the greatest French actresses of her time and her legacy in French cinema will be remembered for many years to come.
