The End of an Era: Remembering Peggy Lipton’s Death and Last Photo

On May 11, 2019, the entertainment industry lost a remarkable talent and a beautiful soul like Peggy Lipton. An actress, model, and singer, Lipton was best known for her roles in the 1960s television series “The Mod Squad” and the 1990s cult classic “Twin Peaks.” At 72, Lipton succumbed to colon cancer, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be remembered by her fans and loved ones.

Peggy Lipton was born on August 30, 1946, in New York City, and she began her career as a model at just 15 years old. Her striking beauty and natural talent caught the attention of many, and it wasn’t long before she transitioned into acting. Her breakout role came in 1968 when she was cast as Julie Barnes in the groundbreaking TV series “The Mod Squad.” This role earned her four Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe win, solidifying her place in the entertainment world.

In 1990, Lipton returned to the small screen, playing the role of Norma Jennings in David Lynch’s surreal mystery series “Twin Peaks.” Her character, the owner of the Double R Diner, became a fan favorite and further cemented her status as a versatile and accomplished actress.

In addition to her acting career, Peggy Lipton was known for her singing talents. She released a self-titled album in 1968 and scored a few charting singles, most notably her cover of Laura Nyro’s “Stoney End.” Lipton continued to dabble in music throughout her career, even releasing a new album in 2018 titled “Twin Peaks: The Music.”

Lipton’s personal life was also filled with love and companionship. She was married to legendary music producer Quincy Jones from 1974 to 1990. Together they had two daughters, Kidada and Rashida Jones, who followed in their mother’s footsteps and pursued careers in the entertainment industry. She kept her illness private and continued to work until shortly before her death. She appeared in the 2017 revival of Twin Peaks and in the film A Dog’s Purpose. Lipton’s funeral service was held on May 15, 2019, at Hillside Memorial Park in Culver City, California.
